The Knights of Columbus is a vibrant and growing Catholic, family, fraternal service organization which is dedicated to promoting the concepts of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. Their programs and projects make a difference in churches, in communities and in countries throughout the world. The Knights assist youth, people with intellectual disabilities, the elderly, and parish families and regularly raise and donate funds for those in need and for seminarians. The men of the Knights of Columbus volunteer their time and talents wherever needed.
Sharon Council #2224, Medicine Lodge Council #6618, and Kiowa Council #7373 are very active within their parishes. These local councils sponsor numerous fundraising events throughout the year, such as the annual Tootsie Roll drives to help people with intellectual disabilities and the annual Culture of Life Baby Showers and activities to gather baby supplies and money to donate to crisis pregnancy centers. The three councils work together to host the Barber County Knights of Columbus golf tournament each year to support each councils' various causes. Individually, the Sharon Knights conduct Friday Night Fish Fries throughout Lent and a Turkey Shoot card party each fall to raise money for their high school senior scholarship fund and other council purposes. The Medicine Lodge council hosts varied fundraisers to provide scholarships for graduating high school seniors, raise money for parish religious education supplies, and donate to fire victims to help with immediate needs. The Kiowa Knights host Bingo every Friday night to raise money for their causes. All the Barber County councils support our diocesan seminarians with donations and their prayers.
In addition to their service work, each council holds social activities among themselves and with their wives and families to promote Catholic and community fellowship, events such as the annual Fall Fling at Kiowa and the yearly Dues Party at Medicine Lodge.
Any Catholic male 18 years or older in good standing with the church is welcome and encouraged to join.
